Transportation Department Notice – 2026-2027 School Year

Please be advised that all bus stops are assigned by the Transportation Department and may only be changed through the Transportation Department.

Bus routes for the 2026-2027 school year will be posted below once all new and adjusted routes have been finalized. Students will return to school on August 10, 2026.

We have expanded our routes as much as possible to accommodate our large student population. However, house stops will not be provided. Students are assigned one bus stop and one bus only.

If you would like to request a different stop than the one assigned, please contact the Transportation Department at 772-343-7028, ext. 15. Requests will be reviewed based on route capacity, safety considerations, and existing stop locations.

Please note that dual ridership arrangements will not be accommodated.

When assigning bus stops, the Transportation Department evaluates the number of students residing in a given area and establishes centralized stops to serve them safely and efficiently. This process allows us to maximize route coverage while maintaining timely and reliable transportation services for all riders.

Somerset College Preparatory Academy have established behavior rules for school bus transportation. It is important to note that violations of these behavior rules may result in suspension and/or the loss of bus-riding privileges. Riding the school bus is a privilege and not a guaranteed or required service, and all families are expected to abide by the bus rules and expectations. When a student chooses to deviate from appropriate behavior, disciplinary action will be taken as listed below, in accordance with the Student Handbook

Note: Students are still required to attend school during any bus suspension. Absences during a bus suspension will be marked as unexcused. Parents/guardians are responsible for making transportation arrangements to ensure the student attends school.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

Students must follow all bus safety procedures and comply with all instructions given by the bus driver. All students will have assigned seats. Students must take their assigned seats immediately upon boarding and remain seated during the ride. Students are required to always wear their seat belts while on the bus. The bus driver reserves the right to change a student’s seat assignment at any time. Students must also follow the Student Code of Conduct as outlined in the School’s Student Handbook. Students are expected to be polite and courteous to one another and to the driver. Electronic devices such as phones or handheld games are permitted and must use earbuds or headphones so as not to disrupt the driver or other passengers; however, video or audio recording on the bus is prohibited. Students should have phones and handheld devices put away when loading the bus. Bullying of any kind (verbal, physical, or cyber) will not be tolerated. Failure to follow the rules, or engaging in the behaviors listed below, may result in disciplinary action up to and including permanent suspension from transportation services.

Prohibited Behaviors include

* Standing or walking while the bus is in motion, including failure to wear a seat belt

* Placing head, arms, legs, or objects out of the window or in the aisle

* Eating, drinking, or chewing gum

* Conducting pranks involving students, drivers, or emergency authorities

PARENT / GUARDIAN EXPECTATIONS

* Parents/guardians are not permitted to board the school bus at any time.

* Please arrive at the assigned bus stop at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up and drop-off times. Buses operate on a strict schedule and will not wait for late arrivals.

* For morning pick-up, weather permitting, students should be standing at the bus stop and ready to board when the bus arrives.

* Students who do not ride the bus regularly for two (2) consecutive weeks may lose their assigned seat.

* Each student is assigned to one bus stop and one bus only and may ride only the assigned bus from the assigned stop. Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, dual ridership will no longer be permitted. Parents/guardians will be responsible for arranging transportation to and from the student’s assigned bus stop. If your child is enrolled at the Boys and Girls Club Chuck Hill Clubhouse, please contact transportation to arrange for bus services to that location.

* If your student needs to ride a bus other than their assigned bus (for example: going to a grandparent’s home, riding with a cousin, or visiting a friend), a bus pass must be approved in advance. Requests must be submitted to the Transportation Department no later than 12:00 PM (noon) on the day transportation is needed, or earlier whenever possible. Requests received after the deadline may not be processed.

Please email all requests directly to:
Transportation@somersetcollegeprep.org

Include the following information in your email:

  • Student’s full name and grade
  • Student’s assigned bus
  • The bus number the student needs to ride
  • Reason for the request

Our buses operate on a very tight schedule. It is imperative that loading and unloading occur quickly, safely, and smoothly. Following these expectations and rules will help to ensure our buses run in a timely manner and help to ensure your student has a safe ride to and from school every day.

Please note that our bus stops may not necessarily be convenient or close to your home. To cover a larger geographic region, we offer "depot stops." A depot stop may not be close to your home, but it is typically closer than driving to the school.  will help ensure that buses operate as close to schedule as possible

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We would like to provide important clarification regarding daily bus schedules and end-of-day transportation procedures.

Our Transportation Department operates in a highly fluid environment and must continuously adjust to changing conditions. While every effort is made to send notifications and communication blasts, there are occasions when last-minute changes occur and messages cannot be sent in real time.

These situations may include, but are not limited to:

  • A bus failing a required pre-trip inspection and being deemed unsafe to operate

  • Drivers calling out at the last minute, requiring immediate coverage

  • Unscheduled or last-minute athletic events requiring transportation

  • Field trips returning late, which may delay afternoon pickup times

When these situations arise, buses may be delayed or temporarily unable to depart until safe equipment and appropriate staffing are secured. Student safety is always our top priority.

Please be assured that communication does take place on campus. End-of-day announcements are made to inform students which buses are on time, delayed, or not yet in the lineup. Additionally, staff members are present in the bus loop every afternoon to assist students in locating their buses and answering questions.

Students are provided with sufficient time during dismissal to reach their assigned buses, and multiple layers of support are in place to ensure they know where to go before buses depart. For this reason, students should not miss their bus due to confusion or a lack of information.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we manage daily operational changes while ensuring that all buses operate safely and are properly staffed.

Thank you for your continued support.

New Florida Statute: Restraint Requirement On School Busses

Dear Somerset families-

Your child's safety and well-being is our top priority.

All children riding our buses are now required to wear their seatbelt when on the bus, per Florida State Staute 316.6145 (2) “Each passenger on a school bus that is equipped with safety belts or a safety restraint system shall wear a properly adjusted and fastened safety belt at all times while the bus is in operation.”

This rule applies to all Somerset buses used for school sponsored field trips, sporting events, as well as the daily routes.

Any child who chooses not to follow instructions to wear their seat belt while on the bus will have consequences, including detention, suspension from the bus, and/or possible loss of bus privileges.

This rule applies to all students riding our buses that attend Somerset Academy Bethany, Somerset College Prep Academy, and Somerset Career Academy.

Please speak to your students about this. Thank you for your understanding and your support in helping to keep our students safe.

Thank you
