Erika Rains, Principal
Erika Rains is the Principal and Founder of Somerset Academy St. Lucie, Somerset Academy Bethany, and Somerset Career Academy and Co-Founder of the Somerset College Preparatory Academy. She holds a Master's in Educational Leadership as well as a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies and Human Development, majoring in Education and minoring in English Literature from Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, TN. She also holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Barry University in Miami, FL. Erika is currently working towards her Doctorate at Nova Southeastern University, focusing on Instructional Leadership and Charter School Management.
Erika has been teaching grades 6 through 12 in FL since 2002, has served as team leader, extended day program director, and co-coach for Reading in a middle school, lead PCSP teacher in high school and opened a charter school as assistant principal.
As founder of Somerset College Prep Academy, Erika has developed the academy from conception to reality, to one of the highest-performing high schools in the county. Somerset has recently relocated from its original home to a beautiful new facility in SLW.
Tim Tredor, Vice Principal
Tim Tredor is the vice principal of Somerset College Preparatory Academy. His degrees include a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Indian River State College and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from American College of Education.
Tim has taught Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus AB under his Math 6-12 Florida Teaching Certificate, as well as Intro to Information Technology and Web Design under his Business Education certificate.
Tim has been working in education since 2010 and a resident of St. Lucie County since 1981.
Shannon Murphy, CTE Site Coordianator
I began my journey in education in 2015, stepping into the vibrant world of preschool teaching. It was a role that ignited my passion for nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning. Over the years, I’ve embraced various positions within the educational landscape, each one enriching my experience and deepening my commitment to student success.
Most recently, I took on the role of CTE Coordinator, where I’ve had the opportunity to connect students with valuable career and technical education resources. This position has allowed me to blend my love for teaching with my belief in the importance of preparing students for the future.
Currently, I’m pursuing my associate degree, a step that reflects my dedication to continuous growth and improvement in my field. I believe that education is a lifelong journey, and I’m excited to expand my knowledge and skills further.
I am particularly inspired by the vision that Somerset has for the Career Academy. I see it as a dynamic environment where students can thrive and explore their passions. I am eager to contribute to this vision and collaborate with a team dedicated to making Somerset Career Academy another one of our amazing charter schools.
As I look ahead, I am filled with enthusiasm for what lies ahead and the impact we can make together in the lives of our students.
Gina Russo, Administrator/Guidance Department Head
Gina Russo is an Administrator and the Director of Guidance and Mental Health at Somerset College Prep Academy. Her Degrees include both a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in Education from Iona College, NY., as well as a Master of Science Degree in Professional School Counselling from Nova Southeastern University, FL.
Past employment experiences include supervising halfway houses in NY for the mentally ill and chemically abusive population, and as an advocate for young adults and geriatric patients at St. Vincent's Hospital.
In St. Lucie County, Ms. Russo has taught in the areas of ELA, Intensive Reading, Journalism, IB Psychology, and Spanish 1, to grades 5-12. She has also started and coached different athletic teams.
Ms. Russo has been an educator and Guidance Counselor in St. Lucie County since 1998.
